Camp
Turk
staff
and
counselors
have
been
selected
based
on
their
background,
experience,
training,
and
interest
in
children.
They
have
completed
a
comprehensive
one
week
training
session
in
their
activity
area
as
well
as
in
counseling.
The
health
and
welfare
of
the
campers
is
a
primary
consideration,
therefore,
issues
such
as
contagious
diseases,
child
abuse,
homesickness,
and
specific
safety
concerns
are
a
part
of
the
educational
program
for
staff
and
counselors.
Key
staff,
Area
Directors,
Hiking
&
Biking
staff
and
of
course
our
nurses will
all
be ARC
certified
in
First
Aid
&
CPR.
Our
staff
consists
of
young
adults
ages
19+
with
a
minimum
of
one
year
of
College.
They
are
from
all
around
the
world.
We
search
for
staff
through
colleges
and
educational
institutions,
as
well
as
local
advertisements.
Many
staff
use
camp
as
a
beginning
step
toward
a
degree
in
education
or
child
care.
Some
of
our
staff
has
evolved
from
campers
to
CIT’s
to
counselors.
All
staff
has
previous
childcare
experience.
All
staff
have
previous
childcare
experience, their backgrounds are
checked
through
the
New
York
State
Criminal
Justice
Services
and
everyone
is
drug
tested.
We
also
employ
international
counselors
through
Camp
America,
Camp
Counselors
USA,
and
BUNAC.
These
are
organizations
dedicated
to
providing
camps
with
highly
qualified
staff
from
countries
around
the
globe.
In
past
seasons,
we
have
had
staff
from
England,
Scotland,
Holland,
Germany,
Russia,
Poland,
Australia,
Czech
Republic,
etc.
These
staff
members
provide
campers
with
exposure
to
a
variety
of
cultures.
They
provide
camp
with
a
fresh
and
unique
perspective
about
the
world
around
us.
